Virtually any bathroom can be made to look better with the proper lighting. There are a handful of different styles of illumination that can be used to work with the room. For example, general lights the entire room, but other options to think about are task bathroom, sparkle and accent lighting. In your bathroom's make over, try to include as many different types of illumination as possible. Each type of lamp, for instance, has its own function such as task for lighting. This is a great tool for mirror areas where you need more light for working on makeup or shaving.

You can always add more lights and then install dimmers so that you get just the right amount for what you need.

Another option for illumination is the use of neodymium light bulbs around your vanity. This is a great way for you to get a sunlight type of light into the bath room. You will want to keep away from recessed lighting near the vanity as these cause a lot of shadow that can distract you.
Recessed can be used in other locations in the any room of the house, but keep it out of places where a lot of light is needed. You may also want to consider adding concave mirrors that are lit near your current main mirror. This is a great source of good light for those that want to have as much light as possible near the mirror for all of those small jobs.
