Luxury and Affordability: Finding a Showerpanel For Your Bathroom

Let's face it: at some point during the day, we all need a shower. It's just a fact of life. You're not limited, though, to how you shower.

Showerpanels are an increasingly popular sight in bathrooms, featuring a sleek, all-in-one design, numerous showering options and a luxury that should appeal to everyone.

Bathroom Light Fixtures

Showerpanels are the plumbing industry's most unique fixtures, and much of their appeal lies in the fact that they're contained in a single unit. These wall-mounted fixtures fit in a typical shower space nicely, thanks to their vertical and rectangular design. In many cases, you can replace an existing showerhead with a showerpanel with few alterations and very little added plumbing. They're also ideal for the homeowner who wants to upgrade the bathroom and add a touch of comfort to a rental (hear that, parent of a college student?).

When you talk about features, it's hard to compete with a showerpanel. They combine leading-edge technology and sophisticated design with personal comfort and luxury for an unforgettable showering experience:

Handle options: one, two or three handles are available Multiple bodysprays: choose from fixtures with two, four, five, six or eight bodysprays Showerhead: usually higher-end for a relaxing and luxurious spray Handshower: includes a lengthy hose Built-in shelves: available on some fixtures, but not all Tub fillers: also offered on select models

Showerpanels are also offered in a modest amount of finish options, including chrome, nickel and silver.

Water pressure is definitely something to consider. Since a showerpanel includes multiple water outlets, you'll need adequate water pressure. Manufacturers recommend at least 50 pounds per square inch (psi) for a system with three or more outlets. If your water pressure is lower than 45 psi, you should install a water booster pump.

Other plumbing considerations include your water supply lines to your shower and drains. Standard 1/2-inch supply lines will restrict your water volume, so installing ¾-inch lines would be ideal.

In addition, make sure yourdrainscan handle the increase in water. Multiple water outlets can flow several gallons of water a minute each. So if you don't want your shower to double as an indoor pool, install at least two two-inch drains or one three-inch drain.

Finally, most showerpanels arrive ready for installation, completely pre-plumbed and equipped with fittings.

So, how large are showerpanels anyway, with so many amenities contained in a single unit? Not too big, it turns out, which only adds to its appeal. They can range in height from 43 to 65 inches. Meanwhile, they can also be quite narrow, measuring just over six inches to 16 1/2 inches wide.

Showering doesn't have to be just something you do every day. It can be your chance to relax, rejuvenate and wash away the stresses of the day-and a showerpanel sure can help.

Until next time, Happy Home Improving!
